I was up quite early but the weather was so nice I went straight outside instead of coming in here Very Happy

Dead dead dead - I go away for a week, the family stays behind, it's blazing hot - they all walk past them at least twice a day and none of them notice my poor toms are dying Confused

so the trial ones are doing great
(although due due to a slight labelling issue Embarassed I don't know which ones are the trial plants)

Planted all mine out on the plot last w/e. Just some red cherries in tubs at home and a miniature from Garden ?which trial in a tub ... they are wee just 8" tall and tiny flowers ... must take pic!

tomato plants are all doing very well in my 'buried growbags and remove most of the leaves' experiment Very Happy
the very first tomato has set (on the 'odessa' Dom gave me! Very Happy ) and nearly all the plants are smothered in flowers.

Some of the flowers are a bit odd though...I've not seen tomato flowers like these before...it's as if they're doubles! really big and very round! Shocked and they aren't in trusses like normal.....each one has it's own branch!

maybe it's something to do with the heirloom beefsteak varieties or the weird knobbly trial ones that Andy sent me Confused

My costaluta fiorentino did the same thing. I think it stops the plant at that point so pulled it off and left a side shoot in situ to become the new main stem.

Looks more like a marigold to me, you sure the seeds were'nt mixed up, Andy said he had had a bit of trouble after he dropped all the packets.

Had that on some of my toms last year, including purple Ukraine. Makes for very odd tom. Left first one but after that took them off and got ordinary toms.
